Following the discussion about the projects to help brand-new tourist guides expand their guiding skills, Mr. Chakkit Khenthong, one of the members of the Professional English Guide Club Committee has proposed to conduct an 8 -day- tourist guide training to the Northern route.
It is generally known that most of the newly -licensed tourist guides, specifically, those who attained tourist guide training course in Bangkok, basically start working in the cities where they obtain license. Mean while, more and more tourists do not stay only in Bangkok and the surrounding provinces; but travel overland for a long days to Chiang Mai, Sukhothai, Pitsanulok, Nakhon Ratchasima, Ubon Ratchathani, Surat Thani or Phuket. It is necessary for these new tourist guides to learn how to conduct tour to these new routes and familiarize with the available tourism resources in those province.
At the same time they can learn guiding techniques from senior and experienced tourist guides. The first day in the schedule will be an in-class session; courses on guiding techniques , cultural sensitivity and other relevant topics will be delivered. From day to day, the tourist guide National Trainers, Ms. Sirilak Khetsoongnoen and Mr. Komsan Suwannarat who are qualified by World Federation of Tourist Guide Associations (WFTGA) , and the training team will demonstrate guiding and then turn taking practice both in coach and on sites. The first route chosen to this training is to the North, starting from Bangkok, Ayuthaya, Lop Buri, Pitsanuloke, Sukhothai, Lampang and Chiang Mai.
